This application is for participation in RFL Academy 2021. To see a sample curriculum click here.

There are two steps to completing our application process.

1) Please fill out the following form to begin your application process.

2) We will also need a letter of recommendation from someone else within the community.  Our alumnus is an excellent source to fulfill this requirement.

Once we receive both of these forms, we will contact you to arrange to schedule your face-to-face interview.  Our application deadline for RFL Academy is June 15, 2020.

  • Please include street, city, state, and zip code
  • Please let us know how many years you have lived in the valley.

Every year we have more applicants than we can accept. These questions help us determine your preferences if we are not able to accept you this year.

  • Please describe your most fulfilling leadership experience.
  • What attracts you to the Roaring Fork Leadership annual 10-month community leadership program?
  • Please tell us about your interest in learning about, growing, and changing your personal leadership abilities.
  • What do you expect to gain if you were selected to participate in this leadership program?
  • Please list your professional and educational background.
  • Please list any civic activities, such as non-profit boards, citizen advisory boards, service clubs, or elected positions in which you have participated and organizations that you've volunteered in the past five years. For each activity, indicate the nature of your participation.

  • We hear from our graduates that participation in Roaring Fork Leadership is one of the most rewarding experiences they have had. With that said, it requires a substantial commitment of time and energy from each class member. The program consists of 14 days, (usually the first Friday of each month) from 8 am - 5 pm, over a 10 month period, August – May. Please consider carefully the following requirements.

    • Inability to attend the 2-day late August/September Retreat, and the 3-day October 'Mastering Leadership' will automatically eliminate a participant from being part of the program.
    • Participants who miss more than 2 sessions will be required to withdraw from the program. The integrity of the program requires that participants be present at all sessions to both learn the leadership skills and to develop personal relationships.
    • We encourage participants to present RFL learnings to their staff or another group of their choosing, 1x per month.
    • Complete all reading and written assignments in a timely manner.
    • Respect the confidential nature of the comments and discussion made during the program.
    • Participate fully in the class project component of the program - the practical "hands-on" application of the leadership principles learned in class.
    • Tuition payment made in full by September 1, 2020, or payment plan in place with the Executive Director.

  • Tuition is $2,950. If you were to secure this amount and level of training independently, it would cost upwards of $10,000. If selected, a $300.00 non-refundable deposit is due by August 15. The remaining tuition balance is due by September 1. Monthly payment plans may be worked out. No refunds on tuition will be made after September 1. We have a limited amount of funding for scholarships available and scholarship applications are due by August 15. Tuition can be paid by the applicant, their employer, by scholarship assistance, or by a combination of these three sources.
