Our History

Roaring Fork Leadership, originally known as Leadership Aspen, was founded in 1988 by a group of local citizens concerned about the need to strengthen relationships and skills among community leaders. Our mission "developing leaders for the community" translates into an annual 10-session "Class" program, the core of our organization. We also hold numerous public events throughout the year. The Roaring Fork Leadership Class is comprised of a diverse blend of individuals that represent a broad range of public, private, non-profit, health, education and business sectors, and who reflect geographic, political, cultural, age and gender diversity. Today, Roaring Fork Leadership has over 500 graduates, with 80% living in the Roaring Fork Valley. Click on 'Programs' to view our current curriculum.

In the Spring, we host receptions for prospective applicants to the program. Please click on 'Apply Now' for more information about our application process.

Tuition is set when we launch our nomication cycle in the spring of each year.  Last year's tuition was $2,000 for an entire year of learning, critical thinking skills development, relationship building, and FUN! The actual cost of the program is $4,500, with the remaining $2,500 investment in each participant coming from alumni, foundations, government, local businesses, and individuals.  Click on 'Support Us' to find out more about how you can help by investing in this program within our community.
